# Marble Idols & Gifts for Griha Pravesh & Housewarming > Bless a new home with a handcrafted marble idol — Lakshmi-Ganesh, Ram-Sita & Vastu-friendly gifts, made-to-order in Jaipur. Free WhatsApp consultation. **Source:** https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/griha-pravesh-marble-gifts **Business:** Tilak Mandirwala — made-to-order marble temples (mandirs), statues and decorative handicrafts. Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Founded 2006. **How it works:** Each piece is carved to order by the independent master sculptors TMW works with in Jaipur's Khajane Walon Ka Rasta sculptors' market. TMW designs the piece with the customer, briefs the sculptor, and follows it through to delivery and installation. **Pricing:** request-for-quote — pieces are custom, so the site carries no list prices. **Ships:** across India; export enquiries welcome. **Page updated:** 2026-10-03 **Hero image:** https://vptrobfqdvauunfvodxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/tmw-media-assets/Hero%20images%20for%20collection%20pages/griha-pravesh-marble-gifts-hero.webp ## Marble gifts for a griha pravesh Griha pravesh is the one occasion where the gift is expected to stay in the house for decades, which makes it unlike almost any other gifting decision. Nobody replaces the Lakshmi-Ganesh pair they were given when they moved in. That permanence is why marble is the traditional choice, and why the question worth answering here is not "what looks nice" but "what will this family actually live with". The pieces on this page are the ones most often commissioned for a new home (deity pairs for the pooja room, and a few smaller marble objects for the rest of the house), all carved to order by the master sculptors we work with, in the stone and size you choose. ## What people give for a griha pravesh The [Lakshmi-Ganesh pair](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-lakshmi-ganesh-pair-on-lotus-thrones-18in) is the default and for good reason: Lakshmi for prosperity in the new house, Ganesh to remove what stands in its way. It is shown at [12](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-lakshmi-ganesh-pair-on-lotus-thrones-12in), [18](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-lakshmi-ganesh-pair-on-lotus-thrones-18in) and [30 inches](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-lakshmi-ganesh-pair-on-lotus-thrones-30in), and on a [shared singhasan throne at 24](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-lakshmi-ganesh-pair-on-shared-singhasan-throne-24in). Ram and Sita are the other classical griha pravesh gift, for harmony in the household: the [vivah pair at 3 feet](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-ram-sita-vivah-pair-3ft), a [2-foot singhasan version](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/vietnam-marble-ram-sita-on-singhasan-throne-2ft), and a [30-inch standing pair](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/vietnam-white-marble-ram-sita-standing-pair-30-inches). Single deities work as well: [Lakshmi on a lotus](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-standing-lakshmi-on-lotus-24in), [Gaja Lakshmi](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-gaja-lakshmi-30in) with her elephants, and [Ganesh with a modak](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-sitting-ganesh-modak-18in). For a gift outside the pooja room there is a [marble serving tray with floral inlay](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-serving-tray-floral-inlay-16-inch) and a [Ganesha pen stand](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/natural-white-marble-pen-stand-ganesha-low-relief-7-in). A griha pravesh close to Diwali often shares a gift list with it: the [marble Diwali gifts](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/marble-diwali-gifts) collection gathers diyas, thalis, Lakshmi-Ganesh pairs and gift boxes in one place. ## Choosing a griha pravesh gift for someone else's home The awkward part of this occasion is that you are usually choosing for a house you have not lived in, and often for a pooja room you have not seen. A few things make that easier. **Pairs are safer than single deities.** Lakshmi-Ganesh and Ram-Sita are near-universal for a new home across most North and West Indian households, where a specific single deity may or may not match the family's ishta devata. **Go smaller than you think.** An 18-inch pair fits almost any ghar mandir. A 30-inch pair assumes a dedicated pooja room, and if the family has a modest shrine your gift becomes a problem to house. Twelve to 18 inches is the safe band when you are unsure. **White marble is the safe stone.** It suits every shrine and every interior, and it is what most families expect for a griha pravesh gift. **Ask about the date.** These are carved to order, not stock, so a piece for a specific griha pravesh needs to be commissioned with real time in hand. If the date is close, say so at the start and we will tell you honestly what is achievable rather than promising and disappointing. ## Vastu placement in the new home Griha pravesh is the moment the shrine gets positioned, and it is usually the recipient's first question. The pooja room is conventionally in the north-east of the house, with the deities facing east or west so the person praying faces east or north. Lakshmi and Ganesh are placed with Ganesh on Lakshmi's left as you look at them. The murtis sit raised (on a chowki, a shelf or a mandir) rather than directly on the floor, and not against a wall shared with a bathroom. If you are giving the piece rather than receiving it, this is worth passing on with it. It is the detail that turns a gift into something the family can install correctly on the day. ## Choosing the stone Makrana white marble is the traditional griha pravesh choice and the most requested here. It is dense, bright, and it holds fine detail on faces and jewellery. Vietnam white marble is cooler and brighter still, which suits a small pair meant to lift out of a compact shrine. Black stone is chosen occasionally where the family's shrine already leans dark. Dholpur pink sandstone belongs in a courtyard or entrance rather than a pooja room. Cast marble dust keeps a smaller gift within a sensible budget without giving up the finish. ## Caring for a marble griha pravesh gift Dry dusting with a soft cloth is the whole routine for polished marble. Lift garlands and flowers off after aarti rather than letting them sit, since moisture and dye are what mark the surface over years. Keep oil lamps far enough away that soot does not settle on the murti. No acidic cleaners on any of the stones. No vinegar, no lemon, no bathroom descaler. A marble tray or inlay piece takes the same treatment; wipe spills rather than letting them stand. ## Commissioning a griha pravesh gift Everything here is a starting point rather than a fixed range. A Lakshmi-Ganesh pair at a size not listed, a Ram-Sita pair in Vietnam white rather than Makrana, a shared base instead of separate thrones: all ordinary requests, and all agreed before carving begins. If you have something else in mind entirely for the new house, a piece you saw somewhere or a photograph from the family's old shrine, that is just as welcome a place to start. Message us on WhatsApp with the date you need it for, and we will talk it through, quote it, and deliver it to the house. ## Pieces in this collection (69) Every piece below is made to order — the stone, size and finish are chosen per commission. - [Hand-Painted Marble Radha Krishna on Jhula (Decor Swing)](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/hand-painted-marble-radha-krishna-on-jhula-decor-swing): Marble Radha-Krishna on swing with meenakari painting and gold accents: perfect for home décor or gifting. - image: https://vptrobfqdvauunfvodxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/tmw-media-assets/Handicraft%20product%20images/radha-krisha-on-cradle-decor-item.webp (concept image) - [Makrana White Marble Serving Tray – Floral Inlay, 16-inch](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-serving-tray-floral-inlay-16-inch): Makrana white marble tray with floral inlay, 16-inch, refined tabletop décor. - image: https://vptrobfqdvauunfvodxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/tmw-media-assets/Handicraft%20product%20images/rectangular-marble-serving-tray-floral-inlay-makrana-white-16in-tabletop.webp (concept image) - [Natural White Marble Pen Stand – Ganesha Low-Relief, 7 in](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/natural-white-marble-pen-stand-ganesha-low-relief-7-in): A natural white marble pen stand with calm Ganesha low-relief and hand-painted accents, 7 inches tall, for serene desk organization. - image: https://vptrobfqdvauunfvodxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/tmw-media-assets/Handicraft%20product%20images/ganesh-pen-stand-sagyin-white-marble-7in-tabletop.webp (concept image) - [Handcrafted Makrana White Marble Ram-Sita Vivah Pair, 3ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-ram-sita-vivah-pair-3ft): Hand-carved Makrana white marble Ram-Sita Vivah pair, a 36-inch home altar piece with garland-exchange moment and matte stone finish. - image: https://vptrobfqdvauunfvodxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/tmw-media-assets/Statue%20product%20images/makrana-white-marble-ram-sita-vivah-pair-3ft.webp (concept image) - [Handcrafted Vietnam Marble Ram-Sita on Singhasan Throne, 2ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/vietnam-marble-ram-sita-on-singhasan-throne-2ft): Hand-chiseled Vietnam marble Ram-Sita on Singhasan throne: a 24-inch home-temple piece with seated regal posture and milky-white stone tone. - image: https://vptrobfqdvauunfvodxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/tmw-media-assets/Statue%20product%20images/vietnam-marble-ram-sita-on-singhasan-throne-2ft.webp (concept image) - [Handcrafted Black Marble Standing Ram with Bow & Sita Pair, 3ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/black-marble-standing-ram-with-bow-sita-pair-3ft): Master-carved black marble Ram-Sita pair. The most auspicious choices are a **Lakshmi-Ganesh pair** (prosperity plus obstacle-removal, the classic housewarming idol), a **Ganesh idol** (worshipped first in every new home), or a **Ram-Sita pair** (harmony for the family). Vastu-aligned pieces are also popular. Tell us the family's deity on WhatsApp and we'll suggest the right one. ### Can you deliver before our housewarming date? Usually yes. Tell us the date first and we will answer honestly. Some pieces are already carved and waiting with the artist families we work with, and those carry no carving wait at all; we send photographs of the actual piece on WhatsApp so you can decide quickly. A fully custom idol carved to your brief takes **8 to 12 weeks**. Share your griha pravesh date before you commit to anything and we will tell you which of the two you are looking at, rather than promise a date we cannot keep. ### Can the idol be personalised with the family's name or a message? Yes, we can **engrave a name, a blessing, or the griha pravesh date** on the marble base. It turns a beautiful idol into a keepsake the family remembers you by. Share the wording on WhatsApp and we'll show you placement options. ### What size should a griha pravesh gift be? For a **gift**, a 6 to 12 inch idol suits most pooja shelves and is easy to carry to the ceremony. For the family's main **pooja-room centrepiece**, 18 to 30 inches works better. Unsure? Send a photo of their pooja corner and we'll suggest a size. ### Which marble can I choose? Do you make these in stones other than white? You can choose from several stones: **Makrana white marble** (the classic warm-white, the same stone used in the Taj Mahal), **Vietnam white marble** (cooler and brighter, with a fine even grain), **black stone**, **Dholpur pink sandstone**, and **cast marble dust** for budget pieces. Most griha-pravesh idols are made in Makrana white because it suits pooja settings, but we craft in any stone you specify. ### Can you ship a housewarming gift to family abroad (NRI)? Yes. We ship worldwide with insured, multi-layer crating. NRI griha-pravesh gifting to the **USA, UK, Canada, and Australia** is common. We share an exact freight quote once the piece and destination are confirmed. ### What is the payment process? A **small advance (10 to 25%)** begins the work; the **balance is due only after the piece arrives safely**. For gifts on a fixed date, we agree the timeline in writing on WhatsApp first. ## Related collections - [Marble Ganpati Murtis for Ganesh Chaturthi](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/ganesh-chaturthi-marble-murti) - [Custom Made Hanuman Statues in Marble Stone](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/hanuman-statues) - [Themed Marble Collections](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/themed-collections) - [Custom Marble Statues](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/custom-marble-statues) - [Custom Made Ganesh Statues in Marble Stone](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/ganesh-statues) - [Custom Made Ram Sita Statues in Marble Stone](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/ram-sita-statues) ## Contact Tilak Mandirwala - Email: info@tilakmandirwala.com - Phone: +91 92141 72150 - WhatsApp: https://wa.me/919766532408 - Enquiry form: https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/contact - Store: Jaipur, Rajasthan, India — https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/best-mandir-shop-jaipur Enquiries are quoted per piece: share the deity or object, an approximate height, and the stone you have in mind.
