## Srinivasa Kalyanam, the celestial wedding

This Kalyana Venkateswara tableau captures Srinivasa Kalyanam, the celestial wedding of Lord Venkateswara, carved in warm Dholpur Pink Sandstone. At the centre stands the four-armed Lord Balaji: the Sudarshana chakra in his upper-right hand, the Panchajanya conch in his upper-left, his lower-right hand raised in varada mudra toward his feet, and his lower-left hand resting on his hip in the graceful katyavalambita pose. A tall conical kiritamukuta crown and the bright white U-shaped tirunamam mark him unmistakably as the Lord of the Seven Hills.

Flanking him are the goddesses Sridevi and Bhudevi, each draped in a flowing sari and adorned with canonical ornaments, holding a lotus in benediction. The three figures share a single decorated pedestal, framing the wedding tableau as it is worshipped at Tirumala, a composition that carries both auspiciousness and the blessing of marital harmony.
