## Rajlakshmi enthroned in Dholpur pink sandstone

Goddess Lakshmi presides as Rajlakshmi, the sovereign form of prosperity, seated regally upon an ornate, fully-open lotus throne. Hand-carved as a four-armed Mahalakshmi, her upper hands lift a pair of blossoming lotuses while her lower hands rest in the abhaya (fearlessness) and varada (boon-giving) gestures, the timeless promise that the household she watches over will never want for grace or abundance. A tiered lotus base and a finely scrolled plinth raise her gently above the altar, exactly as a devotional idol should sit.

What sets this piece apart is the stone. It is carved from Dholpur Pink Sandstone, a soft, warm blush stone prized for its gentle rose-beige ground and fine, even grain. It is finished smooth rather than left raw: light grazes across her crown, jewellery and lotus petals to leave a quiet satin glow, while faint diffuse veining drifts through the pink like watermarks. The colour lends the whole idol a calm, auspicious warmth that white marble cannot, making it a natural fit for the pink-and-gold palette of a Lakshmi shrine.

## Mukut, halo and hand-worked ornament, and commissioning yours

Every ornament is worked by hand: the crested mukut, the radiant carved halo behind her, layered beaded necklaces, waist-band and armlets, and the crisp, upward-curving petals of the throne. Standing 18 inches tall, it is scaled for a home mandir, a puja-room niche or a console altar: substantial enough to anchor daily worship, compact enough to sit comfortably on a shelf.

As a made-to-order piece from Tilak Mandirwala's network of master sculptors, this Rajlakshmi can be commissioned in this size or adapted for your space. It makes an especially meaningful gift for a Griha Pravesh, a Diwali Lakshmi Pujan, a wedding or a new business, an enduring emblem of prosperity carved in warm, living stone.
