He sits in easy sukhasana upon a full-bloom lotus, the Vel held upright in his right hand while his left opens in varada, the gesture of boon-giving and reassurance. His face is unlined and serene, crowned and garlanded, with the peacock, his faithful vahana, resting at the foot of the lotus. It is Murugan not as the warrior mid-battle, but as the ever-young grantor of grace a household turns to for courage and clarity. The piece is hand-carved from Dholpur Pink Sandstone, a warm blush stone with a soft rose-beige ground and gentle grey-rose veining. It is the same palace-and-temple stone worked by Rajput-era artisans, and it lends Murugan a warmth that white marble cannot: feminine, luminous, and unmistakably Indian. A satin soft-polish finish leaves the surface glowing rather than glassy, so every chiselled detail of the crown, the layered garlands, and the peacock's feathers reads clearly in raking light. ## Twenty inches for a console or shelf, and commissioning yours At 20 inches, the statue is scaled for a decorative console, a living-room shelf, or a home shrine, where it can be seated at heart-to-eye height as tradition prefers. The intricate carving of the tiered kirita crown, the tasselled malas, the leaf-bladed Vel, and the finely feathered peacock rewards a close look, making it as much a devotional focus as a piece of collectible stone craft. Every TMW piece is made to order through our network of independent master sculptors in Jaipur, so proportions, finish, and stone tone can be tuned to your space. Whether it anchors a South Indian home altar, honours a family's Kaumaram tradition, or is gifted to mark a milestone, this Murugan brings a calm, protective presence to the room. ## Specifications - **Material:** Dholpur Pink Sandstone - **Finish:** Matte / soft-honed - **Colour:** Warm Pink - **Height:** 20 inches - **Width:** 13 inches - **Depth:** 11 inches - **Weight:** 40 kg - **Ideal for:** Decorative shelf, Living room, Gifting Stone, size and finish are all changeable — these are the specifications of the piece as shown. ## Media ### Images (1) - https://vptrobfqdvauunfvodxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/tmw-media-assets/Statue%20product%20images/dholpur-pink-sandstone-seated-murugan-lotus-20in.webp (primary, concept render) All media is public and CORS-open — fetch directly, no signing or proxy needed. ## Part of - [Statues](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/custom-marble-statues) ## Related pieces - [Handcrafted Makrana White Marble Standing Murugan Statue with Vel, 2ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/makrana-white-marble-standing-murugan-with-vel-2ft) - [Handcrafted Vietnam White Marble Murugan with Valli and Deivanai Statue, 2ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/vietnam-white-marble-murugan-valli-deivanai-2ft) - [Handcrafted Hand-Painted Marble Murugan Statue with Vel and Peacock, 2ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/hand-painted-marble-murugan-with-vel-peacock-2ft) ## Enquire about this piece - WhatsApp, message pre-written: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=919766532408&text=Hi!%20I'd%20like%20a%20quote%20to%20have%20this%20design%20made%3A%20Handcrafted%20Dholpur%20Pink%20Sandstone%20Seated%20Murugan%20on%20Lotus%20Statue%2C%2020in.%20Product%20link%3A%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tilakmandirwala.com%2Fproducts%2Fdholpur-pink-sandstone-seated-murugan-lotus-20in - Tell us the size, the stone and where it is going.
