TMW designs the piece with the customer, briefs the sculptor, and follows it through to delivery and installation. **Pricing:** request-for-quote — pieces are custom, so the site carries no list prices. **Ships:** across India; export enquiries welcome. **About the image:** a design visualisation, not a photograph of stock on hand. The piece is carved to order after the design is agreed. **Availability:** made to order. ## A reclining Buddha that grows out of its own base What separates this reclining Buddha from a plain one is the base. Rather than sitting on a flat plinth, the figure emerges from carved root, pebble and earth textures that run the length of the piece, so the stone appears to rise out of the ground it rests on. It is a single block throughout, so the transition from robe to root is carved, not assembled, and that is the reason this piece belongs in a planted setting rather than on a pedestal. The form itself is the parinirvana: the Buddha lying on the right side, head resting on the right hand, the expression at ease. The stone is warm beige-pink Dholpur sandstone, quartzitic and fine-grained, with visible banding and the occasional iron freckle. Left matte, it keeps the distinction between the smooth robe and the deliberately rough base legible, a contrast that a polished finish would erase. ## Planting a 4ft sandstone Buddha, and commissioning yours At four feet it is designed to be planted into, not placed beside. It sits well at the edge of a moss bed, against ferns, or beside a shallow water basin where the carved pebbles at the base meet real ones. Set it low and let planting come up to the stone; the fused base is the detail that rewards that, and holding it above the greenery on a plinth defeats the design. Every piece is made to order. This one is carved for you by the master sculptors we work with in Jaipur. We develop the design with you, brief the sculptor, and follow it through to delivery at your door. The nature-fused base can be taken further or pared back, and the piece can be carved at other lengths or in white marble. Tell us about the garden and we will quote it. ## Specifications - **Material:** Dholpur Sandstone (Beige) - **Finish:** Matte with natural grain - **Colour:** Warm Beige - **Height:** 48 inches - **Ideal for:** Outdoor garden, Courtyard, Meditation area Stone, size and finish are all changeable — these are the specifications of the piece as shown. ## Media ### Images (1) - https://vptrobfqdvauunfvodxw.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/tmw-media-assets/Statue%20product%20images/buddha-reclining-nature-fused-dholpur-sandstone-48in-garden.webp (primary, concept render) All media is public and CORS-open — fetch directly, no signing or proxy needed. ## Part of - [Statues](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/custom-marble-statues) - [Reclining Buddha](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/collections/reclining-buddha-statues) ## Related pieces - [Handcrafted Dholpur Sandstone Buddha Statue – Reclining, 4ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/dholpur-sandstone-reclining-buddha-statue-4ft) - [Handcrafted Bhainslana Black Marble Buddha Statue, Reclining, 4ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/black-marble-reclining-buddha-statue-mirror-polish-4ft) - [Handcrafted Jaisalmer Sandstone Buddha Statue – Blessing Pose, 3ft](https://www.tilakmandirwala.com/products/handcrafted-jaisalmer-sandstone-buddha-statue-blessing-pose-3ft) ## Enquire about this piece - WhatsApp, message pre-written: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=919766532408&text=Hi!%20I'd%20like%20a%20quote%20to%20have%20this%20design%20made%3A%20Handcrafted%20Dholpur%20Sandstone%20Reclining%20Buddha%20with%20Nature-Fused%20Base%2C%204ft.%20Product%20link%3A%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tilakmandirwala.com%2Fproducts%2Fdholpur-sandstone-material-reclining-buddha-statue-4ft - Tell us the size, the stone and where it is going.
