## Balaji beside Padmavati at 18 inches

Tirupati Balaji, the presiding Venkateswara of the Tirumala hills, stands here beside the goddess Padmavati as a compact devotional pair, hand-carved in luminous Makrana white marble by the master sculptors Tilak Mandirwala curates in Jaipur. At just 18 inches on a shared lotus-edged pedestal, it is sized for the real spaces where families worship: an apartment pooja shelf, a wooden home mandir, a quiet corner altar.

The four-armed standing Venkateswara is rendered with the iconography devotees look for. The upper right hand raises the Sudarshana chakra, the upper left holds the Panchajanya shankha, the lower right opens in varada toward his feet (the gesture of refuge), and the lower left rests on the hip in katyavalambita. A tall conical kiritamukuta crown and the bright U-shaped tirunamam on his forehead complete the form. Beside him, Padmavati stands draped in a finely pleated sari with layered necklaces, a waistband, bangles and her own crown, one hand raised in blessing.

## The Taj Mahal quarry, and commissioning this Balaji pair

Makrana marble, from the same quarry that clad the Taj Mahal, carries a bright, warm-neutral white and a fine crystalline grain that takes crisp detail on the ornaments, garlands and pleats. The pair is finished to a soft satin polish that keeps the stone reading as stone: a gentle glow across the surface rather than a hard mirror shine, with the chisel and sanding work of a hand-made piece still legible up close.

Because every piece is made to order through our network of independent sculptors, the proportions, finish and pedestal can be tuned to your mandir. Share your space and preferences, and we will guide the carving, quality-check the work, and handle safe delivery and installation.

Ideal as a wedding or housewarming gift for a devout South Indian household, or as the centrepiece of a compact home shrine.
