## Govardhan-dhari Krishna lifting the hill

This hand-carved Makrana white marble statue captures one of the most beloved episodes of Krishna's Vrindavan leela: the moment the young cowherd lifts the towering Govardhan hill aloft on the little finger of his raised hand, sheltering the villagers of Vraj from Indra's furious storm. Standing three feet tall, the murti holds the entire mountain effortlessly, a serene smile on his face, embodying the promise that the divine shelters all who take refuge in him.

Carved from a single block of Makrana white marble, the same prized Rajasthani stone used for the Taj Mahal, the piece is finished to a soft matte that lets the natural crystalline grain and fine grey veining show through. Every element is shaped by hand: the peacock-feather crown, the layered garlands and beaded ornaments, the pleated dhoti falling in fluid folds, and the delicately balanced hill textured with rock and foliage. The warm, luminous white of Makrana marble only deepens in character with age and daily worship.

## A 36-inch Krishna in a living room, and commissioning yours

At 36 inches, the statue is a commanding yet graceful presence for a living-room mandir, a home altar, or a dedicated pooja room. Its narrative form makes it as much a devotional focus as a collector's centrepiece, a piece rooted in scripture and Vaishnava tradition.

Govardhan-dhari Krishna is especially revered during Govardhan Puja and Annakut, celebrated the day after Diwali, when devotees honour the hill and the Lord's shelter. Installing this murti invites that same spirit of divine protection and gratitude into the home the year round.
