## Uma-Maheshwara, the tenderest image in the Shaiva tradition

Uma-Maheshwara is the most tender image in the Shaiva tradition: Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati seated close together on Mount Kailash, the divine family in a moment of quiet togetherness. This 24-inch statue captures that intimacy in stone: Shiva in relaxed royal ease with his matted jata, crescent moon, serpent and trishul, Parvati beside him adorned as the mountain-king's daughter, and faithful Nandi resting at their feet.

The piece is hand-carved by our karigars from a single block of Vietnam white marble, a stone prized for its cool, bright, milky-white tone that sits distinctly whiter and cleaner than warm Makrana marble. The matte finish keeps the surface soft and grain-true rather than glassy, so the fine chisel work on faces, jewellery and drapery reads clearly in daylight and diya-light alike.

## Hand-worked detail, and placing a 24-inch Shiva-Parvati pair

Every detail is worked by hand: the coils of Shiva's hair, the beaded malas across his chest, the pleats of Parvati's sari, and the calm, loving expressions the pair share. Both figures and the rocky Kailash base are carved as one integrated form, so there are no joins to weaken over time.

At 24 inches it is sized for a home mandir, pooja room or a dedicated altar niche, substantial enough to anchor the space, yet not overwhelming. Because Shiva-Parvati together embody the ideal of a devoted marriage, the murti also makes a deeply meaningful wedding or anniversary gift.
