About This Piece

The Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati of Pune is one of India's most beloved and richly adorned forms of Lord Ganesha — a murti revered for its serene, generous countenance and its magnificent jewelled crown. This piece reimagines that iconic vision in warm Rajasthani pink marble, capturing the same benevolence and grandeur for a devotee's own home shrine. Hand-carved by master sculptors from a single block of Rajasthani pink marble, the statue carries a soft blush-to-rose tone that glows gently under mandir light. The stone is worked to a satin polish that keeps the natural grain and fine chisel detail visible, while the crown, ornaments and jewellery are finished in luminous gold leaf — the contrast of warm pink stone against gold echoing the opulence of the original Pune deity. Ganesha is shown four-armed and seated in the classic Dagdusheth posture upon a jewelled singhasan throne flanked by carved lions. The lower right hand is raised in abhaya mudra, offering blessing and protection; a modak rests in the lower left hand; and the upper hands hold his emblems. The trunk curves to the left toward the sweet, the large ears and full form rendered with devotional care, and his faithful mouse vahana sits attentively at the base of the throne. At 24 inches, the murti is sized to preside over a home temple or serve as a premium gift for a housewarming, wedding or festival. As with every Tilak Mandirwala piece, it is made to order in Jaipur in partnership with independent master carvers, so the finish, gold-leaf detailing and proportions can be tailored to your mandir before the work begins.
