About This Piece
Carved from a single block of Makrana white marble — the same Rajasthani stone that clad the Taj Mahal — this 48-inch standing Shiva brings the stillness of Kailash to a temple entrance or open courtyard. Mahadev stands in abhaya mudra, his right palm raised in reassurance, the trishul and damru held at his side and the eternal serpent coiled at his throat. Every element of Shiva's iconography is worked by hand: the matted jata gathered above the brow with the crescent moon, the tripundra across the forehead, the layered rudraksha malas over the chest, and the tiger-skin drape knotted at the waist. Our carvers in Makrana finish the surface to a honed matte so the stone keeps its natural grain and quiet luminosity rather than a glassy shine — light settles softly on the marble the way it does on old temple sculpture. At four feet, the murti is sized to anchor a mandir entrance, a courtyard shrine, or the lobby of a hotel or wellness space. Makrana's dense, low-porosity calcite weathers gracefully indoors and out, ageing without yellowing, so the piece holds its presence for generations. For devotees, a standing Shiva in abhaya mudra is the form of the benevolent protector — Bholenath who removes fear. It makes a fitting centrepiece for Maha Shivratri and Sawan worship and a commanding focal point for a dedicated Shiva sthal. Each statue is made to order and can be adjusted in size or finish on request.
