The smallest Buddha in the range, at eight inches

At eight inches this is the smallest Buddha in the range — a Laughing Buddha in a blessing posture, hands raised, the familiar broad smile, carved at a scale that fits in a cupped palm. Small pieces are not simply scaled-down large ones: the face carries almost all of the expression at this size, so it takes proportionally more of the sculptor's time than the body does.

The stone is Vietnam white marble in its milky-white tone, fine-crystalline with subtle natural inclusions and a neutral, bright cast. The surface is left gently matte so faint chisel marks and the grain stay visible — at eight inches a high polish would read as glassy and take the piece toward an ornament rather than a carving.

Desk, shelf or bedside — where this Buddha suits

Its size is its use. It suits a bedside table, a desk, a bookshelf, a car dashboard shrine, or a small niche in a home mandir where a larger murti would not fit — and because it is marble rather than resin, it also takes a sheltered outdoor spot such as a courtyard planter ledge or a garden pathway alcove. It is a common choice as a gift for exactly this reason: it needs no dedicated space.
