Together they are the standing Buddha most temples place where people arrive — reassurance offered and something given, read in a single glance from a distance. It is carved in Vietnam white marble, a cool, bright, fine-crystalline stone with only minimal grey veining. The coolness matters outdoors: warm-toned white stones can read as yellowish under strong Indian sun, while this one holds a clean white from morning through late afternoon. The surface is left matte with the natural grain showing, so the robe folds and the chisel work stay visible rather than being flattened under a shine.

Five feet is a courtyard scale, not a mandir-shelf scale. It works at the end of a garden path, beside a temple entrance, or against a wall where there is room to step back — allow roughly three feet of clear width and a good six feet of height above the base so the raised hand is not crowded. Facing the approach rather than sideways is what makes the abhaya gesture do its work.
