This handcrafted Shiva Lingam is carved from a single block of deep black marble and rises 18 inches from base to crown. The lingam itself — the smooth, ovoid shaft that represents the formless, infinite nature of Lord Shiva — is seated on a broad yoni pitha, the circular base carved with a subtle channel spout that carries away the water, milk and offerings poured during abhishekam.

Every surface is finished to a high-gloss mirror polish, the finish black marble is prized for. Under the flame of a diya the stone catches light along its curved crown and settles into a serene, near-liquid darkness — a quiet, powerful presence that anchors a pooja room without a single painted detail.

The traditional Shaivite proportions, and commissioning yours

The proportions follow the traditional Shaivite form: a rounded, unadorned lingam of understated strength above a functional yoni base. Because the piece is natural stone rather than metal, it stays cool to the touch and holds the coolness of the water offered in worship — in keeping with how the Lingam is bathed through the sacred month of Sawan.

At 18 inches it is substantial enough to serve as the centrepiece of a home mandir, yet measured enough for a dedicated altar shelf or a small temple installation. It is especially suited to Sawan and Mahashivratri worship, when daily jalabhishek and rudrabhishek are performed.
