About This Piece

This four-armed Ganesh stands upright in samabhanga on a full lotus base, the classic vighnaharta form rendered in dramatic jet-black stone. His lower right hand cradles a bowl of modak, his lower left is raised in abhaya — the gesture of blessing and reassurance — while the upper hands hold the ankusha (goad) and pasha (noose), the tools that steer and gather the devotee toward the path. The broken tusk, the generous belly, and the small mushak (mouse vahana) resting at the base are all present, and the trunk curls softly to the left in the auspicious retail tradition. The piece is hand-carved by an independent master sculptor and finished to a deep mirror polish. Against the light, the jet-black surface reads as a long, seamless gradient of reflected light tracing every curve of the crown, the ears, and the layered dhoti — a finish only the densest, finest-grained stone can take. Fine chisel work defines the beaded crown, the ornament, and the pleated lower garment, so the carving stays crisp and readable even where the polish is at its glossiest. At 30 inches, this is a statement scale — tall enough to anchor an entryway console, a contemporary mandir, or a modern living room where the black stone plays cleanly against light walls. The uniform jet tone suits minimalist and contemporary interiors far better than a traditional white marble piece would, making it a natural centerpiece rather than a shelf ornament. Every TMW piece is made to order through our network of independent master sculptors in Jaipur, so dimensions, base, and finish can be tailored to your space.
