About This Piece
This hand-painted marble murti portrays Ghanshyam Maharaj — Bhagwan Swaminarayan in his childhood form — seated with a gentle, knowing smile on a finely decorated singhasan. Rather than the cool restraint of a natural white idol, this piece is finished in full polychrome: a lifelike warm complexion, a saffron-and-gold royal robe, and a jewelled crown that catches the mandir light, capturing the beloved child-god exactly as devotees of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya love to behold him. The form is carved from dense Makrana White Marble (Albeta) — the same time-honoured Rajasthani stone used for temple murtis for generations — chosen for its fine, compact grain that holds crisp detail in the crown, the folds of the robe, and the small hands and feet. Once the carving is complete, master artisans hand-paint every surface: the U-shaped tilak and round chandlo on the forehead, the gold borders and gem-set jewellery, and the soft child features are all applied by hand, so no two painted murtis are ever quite alike. At 18 inches, the murti is sized for a home mandir or pooja shelf — large enough to anchor daily darshan, yet compact enough to sit comfortably among lamps, garlands and offerings. The seated singhasan posture makes it a natural centrepiece for aarti, shringar and festival celebrations, when devotees dress and adorn the boy-god through the day. Like every piece in our catalogue, this Ghanshyam Maharaj is made to order through our network of independent master sculptors and painters, then quality-checked and delivered to your door. Its warmth and colour also make it a heartfelt griha-pravesh or festive gift for a Swaminarayan household. Tell us your preferences on size, throne detailing or shringar and we will craft it to your vision — Aapki Kalpna, Hamari Rachna.
