About This Piece
Shree Swami Samarth of Akkalkot is among the most beloved gurus of the Dattatreya lineage, revered across Maharashtra and far beyond as a living embodiment of grace. This 24-inch murti captures him seated in the darbar blessing posture on a draped asana, his right hand raised in abhaya — the gesture that reassures every devotee who bows before him, "bhiu nakos, mi tujhya pathishi aahe" (fear not, I am with you). Hand-carved from a single block of Makrana white marble — the same fine, luminous stone chosen for India's most enduring temple sculpture — the figure is then finished in traditional polychrome entirely by hand. Layer by layer our artisans build a warm, lifelike complexion, a saffron-ochre robe and shawl that fall in soft carved folds, a flowing white beard and brows, and a red-and-sandalwood tilak on the brow. Fine gold detailing traces the robe border and the scrollwork of the plinth. The vivid, devotional palette makes this murti a natural centrepiece for a home shrine, mandir or Swami Samarth seva room. Its warm colours come alive under diya light and among fresh flowers, while the calm, benevolent gaze holds the space through daily aarti, Thursday seva and Guru Purnima. Every piece is made to order, so the proportions, robe tones and the intensity of the gold work can be tailored to your shrine. Substantial yet serene at two feet tall, it is equally at home as a lifelong personal deity or as a meaningful gift for a housewarming, an elder's blessing, or a devotee beginning their Swami seva.
