About This Piece
Shree Swami Samarth of Akkalkot — the great Dattatreya-tradition guru revered across Maharashtra and beyond — is carved here in the posture devotees know best: seated in the calm, upright darbar bearing of the Akkalkot shrine, the right hand lifted in abhaya (fear-not) blessing and the left resting open upon the knee. The long flowing beard, the bare ascetic torso with its shawl drawn over one shoulder, and the serene, luminous gaze are all rendered with the patience that only hand-carving allows. This murti is worked from a single block of Makrana white marble, the same fine-grained stone that clothes the Taj Mahal and Maharashtra's finest temples. Our karigars carve, rasp, and hand-polish the piece to a soft satin glow that keeps the natural crystalline character of the stone — the folds of the asana, the strands of the beard, and the tilak on the brow are all cut by hand rather than moulded. At 24 inches (2 ft), the statue is sized to preside as the central figure of a home pooja room, a family shrine, or a Swami Samarth seva mandir, while remaining light enough to place on a raised platform or altar. Its dignified proportions read beautifully from across a room yet reward close devotion. For lakhs of devotees the words carved into memory — "Bhiu Nakos, Mi Tujhya Pathishi Aahe" (Fear not, I am with you) — are inseparable from Swami's darbar image. A hand-carved marble murti brings that reassuring presence into daily worship and makes a deeply meaningful gift for a griha-pravesh, an anniversary of faith, or a devotee setting up their first shrine. Each piece is made to order; subtle variations in grain and tool-work are the natural signature of genuine hand craftsmanship.
