About This Piece

Shree Swami Samarth of Akkalkot — the revered guru-saint venerated across Maharashtra and far beyond — is captured here in a commanding 36-inch (3 ft) form, hand-carved from a single block of Makrana white marble. The Maharaj is seated in his characteristic majestic bearing on an ornately carved high-back throne, his right hand lifted in the gesture of blessing (abhaya mudra) that his devotees know so intimately, one foot resting forward on the stepped plinth below. Every element is worked by hand in the Makrana tradition — the same brilliant, close-grained stone chosen for India's most enduring temple sculpture. The saint's long flowing beard, the soft fall of the shawl across one shoulder, the bolster cushion and the dense scrollwork of the throne's aureole are each chiselled and finished to a satin glow, so the marble's natural translucence lends the figure a quiet inner light rather than a flat, chalky surface. At three feet and mounted on a stepped plinth, this is a temple-format centrepiece rather than a shelf piece. Its scale and presence suit a dedicated shrine room, a large home mandir, or an institutional or community temple hall — anywhere the murti can preside as the focal point of daily darshan and worship. Honoured as a form of Lord Dattatreya and a living guide to his followers, Swami Samarth's image is a source of reassurance, patience and grace. Placed with a diya and offerings at its base, this statue anchors a space of devotion — carrying the calm, benevolent gaze of the Akkalkot Maharaj into the heart of your home or temple.
