This handcrafted statue brings the Murugan family together in a single serene composition: Lord Murugan (Kartikeya) stands at the centre, single-faced and crowned, the Vel resting in his hand and his peacock vahana at his feet. He is flanked by his two consorts — Valli and Deivanai (Devasena) — each poised in a graceful tribhanga, draped in a full traditional saree with layered jewellery and finely carved hair adornments. Standing two feet tall on a lotus pedestal, it reads as a complete, harmonious divine family. The piece is carved from Vietnam White Marble, a bright, cool, close-grained stone prized for its clean porcelain-white tone. Its fine crystalline surface holds crisp detail — the ridges of the Vel, the folds of each saree, the beadwork of the garlands — while a soft satin polish lets light glow gently through the translucent stone rather than glaring off it. In the Tamil tradition, Murugan (also known as Kartikeya, Skanda or Subramanya) is the ever-youthful commander of the divine forces and a beloved household deity across South India and the Tamil diaspora.
