The likeness is worked head-and-shoulders, the way a memorial bust is meant to be read from below: the pointed jiretop turban with its jewelled clasp, the chandrakor crescent on the brow, the full moustache and pointed beard, and a high-collared robe crossed by a strand of pearls. The stepped rectangular plinth is cut from the same block as the shoulders, so there is no joint line for water to find.
