About This Piece

This hand-carved Murli Krishna stands 36 inches tall, capturing the Lord in his most beloved form — Murli Manohar, the flute-player whose music once drew all of Vrindavan to him. The figure holds the classic tribhanga stance, body curving gently at the neck, waist and knee, both hands raising the bansuri to his lips. A peacock-feather crown, layered garlands and a finely draped dhoti complete an iconography that devotees will recognise at a glance. What sets this piece apart is the stone. Carved from deep, jet-black marble and finished to a high-gloss mirror polish, it turns the familiar image of Krishna into something quietly dramatic. The dark surface carries its own meaning — Krishna is Shyam, "the dark-hued one", and black marble lets that name become the sculpture itself. Light travels along the polished curves in long, seamless highlights, so the form reads clearly even in a softly lit niche. Each statue is shaped entirely by hand. Our artisans rough out the block, then refine the drape of the cloth, the beadwork of the garlands and the delicate fingering on the flute before bringing the whole surface to its final gloss. Faint tool marks left on the unpolished faces are the honest signature of a piece made by a person, not a mould. At three feet, the statue is substantial enough to anchor a room yet restrained enough for a contemporary home. It suits a minimalist altar niche, a dedicated mandir, or a console against a pale wall where the black stone can stand out. It also makes a memorable gift for a housewarming, a wedding, or any devotee of Krishna. Krishna in his Murli form embodies divine love, joy and the soul's longing for the divine. Placed where the household gathers, this statue offers both a focal point for daily darshan and a striking work of devotional art.
