Handcrafted Black Granite Radha Krishna under Kadamba Tree with Vrindavan Arch, 3ft

Radha and Krishna stand together as the jugal jodi, Krishna's weight shifted into tribhanga with the flute raised to his lips, Radha at his left hand with a lotus. Behind them the kadamba tree rises and closes overhead into a prabhavali arch — the same tree Braj devotees picture Krishna beneath, here worked as a canopy of open leafwork with small birds perched in the branches. Both figures share one lotus base, so the composition reads as a single piece of stone rather than a pair set side by side. Jet-black granite is the reason the arch holds together. It is dense and non-porous enough to carry undercut foliage this fine without chipping, and it takes a true mirror polish, which very few natural stones will. Under a single warm light the polished planes of the drapery and the figures pick up long gradient highlights while the recessed leafwork stays matte-dark, and that contrast is what gives the piece its depth from across a room. Every arch piece is carved to order by the master sculptors we work with in Jaipur, from a drawing agreed with you first. Because the tree, the birds and the halo are all worked in relief from the same block, the layout has to be settled at the design stage — how open the leafwork should be, how far the arch stands proud of the figures, whether Radha's veil falls in front of or behind the foliage. We design it with you, brief the sculptor, review the block as the carving comes up, and follow it through to your door. At 36 inches the piece sits comfortably as a living-room centrepiece on a low plinth or console, where the arch reads at eye level. In a temple installation it works as the principal murti of a Radha-Krishna shrine, since the integral arch removes the need for a separate prabhavali frame. Height, base profile and the depth of the relief can all be adjusted — a shallower arch for a wall-adjacent niche, a deeper one for a free-standing installation. Kadamba is Krishna's tree in the Braj tradition, the shade he plays his flute under in the Vrindavan lila, and a jugal jodi framed by it carries that setting into the room rather than only depicting the two figures.
