About This Piece

Carved from a single block of Makrana white marble — the same legendary Rajasthani stone that clads the Taj Mahal — this three-foot murti shows Krishna in his beloved Gopala form: the young cowherd of Vrindavan, standing at ease with his bansuri raised to his lips and a calf pressed gently to his side. The pastoral iconography is rendered with quiet devotion. Krishna wears a crested mukut, a long vanamala garland falling to his knees, layered necklaces, armlets and anklets, and a finely pleated dhoti whose folds fall in soft, hand-chiselled drapery. The tribhanga ease of the body, the half-smile, and the trusting calf beside him together evoke the Braj lila — Krishna as protector and companion of the cows, calling his devotees home with the sound of the flute. The stone itself is Makrana white marble, prized for its dense, non-porous crystalline grain and its warm, luminous white that only deepens with age. The finish is matte, letting the natural stone grain and the master carver's chisel work read honestly across every surface — the coiled hair, the beaded jewellery, the calf's soft muzzle and bell. At 36 inches, the piece has real presence: substantial enough to anchor a temple installation or a living-room mandir, yet composed and serene enough for a home altar. It rests on an integral carved lotus-round base, so it stands proud on any plinth without additional mounting. Each statue is hand-carved to order by our Rajasthani karigars, so subtle variations in grain and tooling make every piece one of a kind. Ideal for a Vaishnava household, a Vrindavan-themed mandir, or as a milestone gift for a griha pravesh or temple consecration.
