About This Piece
This Sankat Mochan Hanuman is caught in a moment of pure surrender — down on one knee, palms pressed together at his heart, his gaze lowered in devotion. The kneeling posture is the tenderest of all Hanuman forms: not the mountain-lifting hero or the mace-raised warrior, but the perfect bhakta, humbled before the Lord he serves. His gada rests quietly at his side and his tail curls upward behind him, both quiet reminders of the strength held in check by love. It is hand-carved from a single block of Makrana white marble, the same luminous Rajasthani stone chosen for the Taj Mahal and countless temple sanctums. Makrana reads a bright, natural white with the faintest warmth — its fine crystalline grain lets light sink a little way into the surface and glow softly back, so the folds of the dhoti, the beaded garlands, and the jewelled crown catch light with a quiet inner life rather than a hard shine. A soft satin polish keeps every chisel line and ornament crisp. Each piece in this form is made to order by the independent master sculptors Tilak Mandirwala has worked with for years. The face is where their skill shows most — the set of the brow, the calm of the eyes, the exact devotional expression that separates a murti from a mere figure. Fine detailing runs through the jewelled mukut, the layered vanamala, and the armlets, every element cut by hand and finished so the ornament stands proud of the polished skin. At 18 inches it is sized for a home mandir or pooja shelf rather than a courtyard — close enough to fold your own hands before each morning. Sankat Mochan, the remover of troubles, is turned to for courage, protection, and the steadying of a restless mind, which makes this kneeling form a natural centre for daily Hanuman Chalisa paath. Place him on a clean raised platform with a diya at his feet and let the marble carry the light of the flame. Being made to order, the piece can be commissioned in other sizes or a different marble on request, and gift packing for Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti, or a griha pravesh is available. Every statue is quality-checked and carefully crated before it leaves Jaipur.
