About This Piece
This 15-inch Ganpati is caught in a moment of pure delight — seated easily in sukhasana, He cradles an oversized modak in both lower hands, the sweet He loves most held out almost as an offering back to the devotee. The upper hands carry His ankusha and pasha, and at His feet the little mushak looks up, waiting. It is an approachable, affectionate rendering of Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles, sized to sit comfortably on a home altar rather than a temple plinth. The murti is hand-carved from Vietnam White Marble, a bright, fine-grained stone with a cool, clean undertone that reads as a calm milky-white rather than warm cream. Its dense crystalline body takes crisp detail, so the beaded ornaments, the pleats of the dhoti, the crown and the coils of the trunk all hold their edges. A soft satin polish keeps the surface luminous and tactile — light settles into the stone and glows gently back rather than bouncing off a hard mirror shine. Every piece in this line is made to order through the independent master sculptors Tilak Mandirwala works with in Jaipur, so the carving carries the small, honest asymmetries of a hand-finished murti. The iconography is kept faithful throughout: the left-curving trunk reaching toward the modak, the broken-tusk, the ankusha and pasha, and the ever-present mouse — the details a devotee looks for when choosing a Ganesh for daily worship. At 15 inches it is an ideal centerpiece for a home pooja mandir or a devotee's personal shrine, and its cheerful, generous form also makes it a meaningful gift for a housewarming (griha pravesh), a wedding, or a new beginning. Placed on a clean chowki with a diya alongside, this cool white Ganpati brings a quiet, auspicious focus to the space it presides over.
