A three-foot Ganesh framed by a prabhavali

This three-foot Ganesh is carved from a single block of Makrana white marble and framed by a full prabhavali torana — the arched halo of divine light that surrounds a deity in temple sculpture. A kirtimukha, the auspicious "face of glory," crowns the arch, while scrollwork and lotus rosettes ripple down either side, drawing the eye inward to Lord Ganesha seated calm and centred beneath.

He is shown four-armed in the classic seated posture, one knee folded down and the other raised in easy repose. The lower right hand is lifted in abhaya, the gesture of protection and blessing, while a lower hand cradles a modak, his beloved sweet. The upper hands hold the ankusha and pasha — the goad that spurs the devotee onward and the noose that draws them close. His trunk curves gently to hold the offering, and at the base, carved from the same stone, his vahana the mushak looks up in devotion.

Makrana marble — the stone of the Taj Mahal and countless temple sanctums — takes a soft satin polish that lets light sink into the crystalline surface and glow back from within. Every rosette on the arch, every fold of the dhoti, and the fine ornament of the crown and necklaces are cut by hand by a master sculptor, so no two pieces are ever identical.
