About This Piece

Carved in the multi-armed darbar form, this Ganesha sits in lalitasana upon a fully bloomed lotus throne, His many hands fanned outward to bear the sacred ayudhas — the ankusha (goad) that steers the wandering mind, the pasha (noose) that draws the devotee gently near, a lotus for purity, and a brimming bowl of modak. One hand opens in abhaya, the gesture of fearless blessing, while the little mushak — His faithful mouse-vahana — sits alert at the base, gazing up at his Lord. The single broken tusk, the potbelly and the jewelled crown are all rendered with the reverence this darbar form demands. The piece is hand-carved from a single block of Makrana white marble, the legendary Rajasthani stone prized for centuries for its brilliant, luminous body and fine crystalline grain. Finished to a soft satin polish, the surface holds a gentle glow rather than a hard mirror shine, so every chisel line on the crown, jewellery and lotus petals reads clearly and the natural translucence of the calcite catches the light along thin edges. Standing a commanding 30 inches — two and a half feet — the murti is scaled for a dedicated home mandir, a pooja room, or a temple installation where it can hold the centre of the space. Its balanced, seated composition and the multiplicity of blessing hands make it a natural focal point for daily aarti and festival worship, and a considered choice for Ganesh Chaturthi, a griha pravesh, or a milestone housewarming gift. Like every piece in our catalogue, this Ganesha is made to order in Jaipur by the independent master sculptors we work with, so the proportions, finish and detailing are carried out by hand for your specific installation.
