Handcrafted Makrana White Marble Ram-Sita Vivah Pair, 3ft

The Vivah pose freezes a single moment from the Mithila wedding — Sita stepping forward with the marigold garland, Ram receiving with quiet stillness. We carve this pair from Makrana white marble, quarried in Nagaur district since the 14th century. The same stone faced the Taj Mahal; its tight grain and faint translucence hold fine detail without chipping. The pair begins as two separate blocks in our Jaipur workshop, set side by side so symmetry between Ram and Sita stays calibrated. Heavy chisels and drill points rough out the silhouettes; faces, hands, the garland, and jewelry are all finished by hand against the grain — no machine work on these surfaces. Polish moves through eight progressive grades, finished with a wax-resin compound. Vivah is the standing-pair tradition — distinct from the seated Ram Darbar with Lakshman and Hanuman attending, and from the standalone Ram-with-bow form. Sita is the active figure, her right hand raised in mid-offering. The composition is strongest in the Mithila and Ayodhya devotional traditions, and gained renewed popularity in North Indian altars after the 2024 Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration. At 36 inches the pair anchors a home altar without crowding the room. Vastu places Ram murti in the northeast (Ishanya) corner facing east; the piece sits at chest level or above on a wooden chowki or marble plinth, with a few inches of breathing room behind. It works for daily pooja, Ram Navami and Diwali arrangements, and traditional newlywed-home installations.
