This 24-inch Mahalakshmi statue is hand-carved from a single block of Vietnam White Marble, a bright, cool-toned white stone prized for its fine, even grain and porcelain-clean surface. Lakshmi stands four-armed upon a fully opened lotus, her upper hands raised with blooming lotus flowers while her lower right hand offers abhaya, the gesture of reassurance — the classic form of the goddess of wealth, fortune, and abundance. What sets this piece apart is her vahana: the ulooka, or owl, carved at the base beside her feet. In Vaishnava and Shakta tradition the owl is Lakshmi's mount, a reminder to see clearly through illusion and to steward prosperity with wisdom. Rendered with individually detailed plumage, the owl grounds the composition and gives the statue a distinctive iconographic completeness rarely seen at this size. The satin polish keeps the marble's natural luminosity — light penetrates the translucent calcite and glows softly at the thin edges of the lotus petals and jewellery — while preserving the fine chisel and rasp detail across the sari folds, layered necklaces, and crown.
