About This Piece

This 24-inch statue portrays Lord Ganesha in his celebrated Mayuresha form — the peacock-riding aspect worshipped at Morgaon, first of the Ashtavinayak shrines of Maharashtra. Rather than the familiar mouse, here the elephant-headed lord is seated majestically upon his peacock vahana, whose fanned tail rises behind him like a living halo of carved plumes. It is a rare and auspicious depiction, chosen for homes that want a devotional centrepiece with genuine iconographic depth. Every detail is shaped by hand from a single block of Vietnam White Marble, a bright, cool-toned stone prized for its fine crystalline grain and luminous, near-porcelain whiteness. The master sculptor renders the four arms with quiet precision — the front-right palm raised in abhaya, granting fearlessness, a bowl of modak cradled below, and the upper hands bearing the ankusha and pasha. The broken right tusk, the ornate jewelled crown, the layered garlands and the potbelly are all faithfully carved, while the trunk curls gently to the left in the retail-auspicious manner. The surface carries a soft satin polish that catches light without glare, so the delicate feather-work of the peacock and the fine folds of the dhoti stay readable from across a room. A small mouse rests at the base, looking up at his lord — a tender touch that keeps the traditional vahana present even in this peacock-mounted form. At 24 inches, the piece is substantial enough to anchor a home mandir or a living-room console yet remains proportioned for indoor devotional spaces. As a made-to-order commission curated through TMW's network of independent master sculptors in Jaipur, each casting of this design is finished individually, so minor natural veining and hand-tooled variation are part of its character. Ideal as a housewarming or wedding gift, a Ganesh Chaturthi installation, or a lasting family heirloom, this Mayuresha Ganesha brings the blessing of Vighnaharta — the remover of obstacles — into the heart of the home.
