Handcrafted Vietnam White Marble Ram-Sita with Kneeling Hanuman, 3.5ft

Vietnam White Marble gives this Ram-Sita tableau its bright, clean stillness. Quarried near Da Nang in central Vietnam — a region that has exported fine calcitic marble for devotional carving for well over a century — the stone reads as a cool, neutral white that photographs almost porcelain-bright. Its fine crystalline grain holds crisp detail, which is why the crowns, the pearl-strung garlands, and the folds of Sita's saree stay sharp rather than softening. The result is a three-figure composition that feels both grand and quietly intimate. Every piece is shaped by hand at our Jaipur workshop. The block is rough-cut to establish the three unequal heights — Ram tallest, Sita to his left, Hanuman low at their feet — before the artisans move to primary shaping and then the slow work of detail carving. Faces, hands, and drapery are never machine-finished; they are chiselled, rasped, and hand-polished in stages until the surface carries a soft satin glow. Fine tool marks left in the recesses are deliberate evidence of that hand process. The iconography follows the Ayodhya Ram murti tradition. Ram stands with his longbow, right hand raised in abhaya mudra — the gesture of fearlessness and blessing that is his constant identifier. Sita, to his left, holds a lotus, dignified and composed. At their feet Hanuman kneels in anjali mudra, gazing upward in seva — the pose of the devoted servant that anchors the whole group in bhakti. It is the emotional heart of the Ramayana rendered in a single glance. A 42-inch group like this needs room to breathe — a temple sanctum, a dedicated mandir alcove, or a wide console against a plain wall so the carved backdrop reads clearly. Ram murtis are traditionally placed facing east or west; a clear line of sight from the seating area lets the kneeling Hanuman draw the eye upward toward Ram and Sita, the way the composition intends. Allow for the weight of a solid marble group when choosing the base.
